HURRICANE DEBBY RESPONSE: GOD’S PIT CREW SENDING CRITICAL RELIEF SUPPLIES TO FLORIDA

DANVILLE, VA. (August 8, 2024) – Relief efforts provided by God’s Pit Crew are headed to Sarasota, Florida, to assist victims of Hurricane Debby which continues to cause severe flooding in multiple states. The Gulf Coast of Florida was the first area impacted by the Category 1 hurricane, and now days after the storm’s initial impact, several communities are still under water.

A full tractor-trailer load of Blessing Buckets, which are five-gallon buckets containing non-perishable food, water, hygiene items, first-aid kits, flashlights, Bibles, and handwritten notes of encouragement, will soon depart the God’s Pit Crew warehouse in Danville, Virginia, and travel to South Shore Community Church in Sarasota, Florida. The supplies will be distributed by officials in the area to anyone in need. Along with the Blessing Buckets, pallets of bottled drinks and snack foods will also be included in the relief supply delivery.

“The people of this community have lost a lot to the flood waters left by Debby. Cars are destroyed. Homes are water-logged and filled with filth the water brought with it,” remarked Chris Chiles, God’s Pit Crew Immediate Disaster Response Coordinator.

God’s Pit Crew President, Randy Johnson, says the ministry prays the relief items being sent will help the community see that there is hope in the coming days as they work to clean up.

“This storm continues to affect people all along the East Coast. We are blessed, though, with partners and volunteers that step up and help us provide critical supplies during these hard times,” said Johnson. “The more support God’s Pit Crew receives – whether through donations or through volunteering – allows us to help more people in need.”

As the ministry looks to restock their inventory of Blessing Buckets to keep responding and providing the much-needed materials to disaster victims, anyone interested in sponsoring a Blessing Bucket – which cost $35 per bucket to fill – or to support their ongoing immediate disaster response efforts is encouraged to visit GodsPitCrew.org or call (434) 836-4472.

In 2024, God’s Pit Crew has responded to 13 major disaster situations throughout the country and delivered 28 tractor-trailer loads of relief to disaster victims, including over 9,000 Blessing Buckets.
