GOD’S PIT CREW VOLUNTEERS BUILDING NEW HOME FOR FIREFIGHTER’S FAMILY IN LEICESTER, NORTH CAROLINA

DANVILLE, VA. (July 29, 2025) – God’s Pit Crew volunteers are currently onsite in Leicester, North Carolina, working to build a new home for the Cicillian family, who lost everything during the devastation of Hurricane Helene last September. The fully furnished, three-bedroom, two-bathroom home is being constructed at no cost to the family, with plans to be completed by August 9.

Zach and Amber Cicillian, along with their three sons – the youngest recently being fostered by the family – were left homeless after the storm’s catastrophic flooding destroyed their house and property. Zach, a firefighter, was out rescuing others in the midst of the storm while his own home was tragically swept away.

“Our stuff is washing away, I was screaming on the phone,” Amber recalled.

“I just remember praying. I asked God to let me see my family again,” Zach added.

He was reunited with his family, but the heartbreak of returning to their destroyed home remains vivid.

“When I first saw the house after, it was breathtaking,” Zach said. “It wasn’t much. When we were first married, I worked like three jobs – I worked so hard just to hold onto it. The human side of me was very frustrated.”

Thanks to the generosity of donors and the dedication of God’s Pit Crew volunteers, the Cicillians are beginning to rebuild not just a home, but hope.

“To the donors and volunteers making this happen: thank you. Two words are really pale in comparison to what it means to my family,” Zach said. “Because of your generosity, you have allowed me to fulfill my calling to serve [others] and provide [for my family] – to have joy, and to have somewhere to watch my sons play.”

This is one of more than 30 homes God’s Pit Crew is providing for survivors of Hurricane Helene and those affected by other recent flooding events in the Southeast this year.

“All of these homes are provided fully furnished and at no cost to the recipients,” said Randy Johnson, God’s Pit Crew President. “Our mission is to bring hope, healing, and restoration to people in times of disaster. We’re honored to help families like the Cicillians find peace and stability again.”

This home build in North Carolina comes immediately following God’s Pit Crew’s recent deployment to Central Texas, where the ministry provided critical relief in the wake of deadly flooding earlier this month. Volunteers delivered truckloads of emergency supplies, including food, water, generators, and Blessing Buckets to those affected by the disaster – as well as assisting residents in cleaning up their flooded homes.

The crew’s immediate response and continued commitment underscore the ministry’s mission to serve communities in disaster across the country whenever the needed arises. Opportunities to get involved can be found by visiting GodsPitCrew.org.
