DANVILLE, VA- 04/27/20: It has been a busy two months of disaster and crisis response for God’s Pit Crew. Over the weekend, God’s Pit Crew continued to respond to the COVID-19 crisis by sending two additional semi-loads of supplies. Two other semi-loads were delivered to areas for disaster relief. These four tractor-trailer loads bring the total to 31 loads delivered since March 2020.
This week is another exciting and busy week for GPC to help make a difference in this region during the COVID-19 crisis.
God’s Pit Crew is excited to partner with Roanoke City Schools, Straight Street of Roanoke, and the Carilion Clinic Community Health and Outreach, to assemble 500 food boxes to assist homeless and needy families. In addition to the food boxes, the families will receive a backpack with supplies for children. Carilion is also providing handouts with nutritional information and information about COVID-19.
The food boxes and supplies will be assembled tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. at God’s Pit Crew’s distribution center on North Main Street and will be delivered to Roanoke City Schools at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 30. Because of gathering restrictions due to COVID-19, these 500 food boxes will be assembled by a very small team.
Joining God’s Pit Crew to assist with tomorrow’s assembly will be XFinity Series Racer Jeb Burton.
“I’m excited to get up to God’s Pit Crew to help assemble the food with Carilion. I’ve had a lot of fun learning about God’s Pit Crew and all the great things they are doing,” said Burton.
