Camper for Family Impacted by Helene

Hurricane Helene emerged as one of the most devastating and far-reaching disasters ever witnessed by God’s Pit Crew.  This catastrophic storm wreaked havoc across the southern part of the United States, leaving turmoil throughout Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina and Virginia.  Entire communities were left without electricity or clean water, and in many heartbreaking cases, families watched as their homes were devastated by the storm’s strength.

Among those affected by Hurricane Helene were Randy, Natasha, and their two children in Old Fort, North Carolina.  The night of September 26, the family was in their home when a massive, 200-year-old oak tree crashed through the center of their home resulting in unimaginable damage.

“I had the kids in my room,” recalled Natasha.  “Ellie kept trying to go to her room, and I don’t know why, but something made me think to just go in my bedroom.  Randy was in the living room at the time.”

That night, the only sanctuaries within their home were Natasha’s bedroom and the living room where Randy had been.  If they had chosen to be anywhere else in the house, the outcome could have been even more tragic.

Amidst the chaos and destruction of Hurricane Helene, a gracious donor stepped forward to God’s Pit Crew to provide a camper to be used as a blessing for a family in need.  Seeing this as the perfect opportunity to help, the ministry worked quickly to clean and fully-furnish the camper for Randy, Natasha, and their children.

On October 10, the family received the graciously donated camper as a warm, dry, and safe place to live while recovering from the horrific storm.

“It’s going to be very comfortable,” remarked Randy after seeing the camper.  “We definitely appreciate everything.”
