GOD’S PIT CREW NAMED 2025 NEIGHBORHOOD HERO BY BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY
DANVILLE, VA. (September 5, 2025) – God’s Pit Crew is honored to announce that the disaster response organization has been recognized as a 2025 Neighborhood Hero by Bristol Motor Speedway as part of its esteemed BMS Neighborhood Heroes program. The announcement was made Thursday, September 4, during a special ceremony held at God’s Pit Crew Headquarters in Danville, Virginia.
Established in 2018, the BMS Neighborhood Heroes initiative was created to recognize individuals, groups, and organizations that go above and beyond in service, action, and leadership to better their communities. Past recipients have included first responders, military service members, educators, healthcare workers, athletes, and civic leaders whose contributions have made a lasting impact across Tennessee and the expanded region surrounding Bristol Motor Speedway.
Representatives from Bristol Motor Speedway were joined by NASCAR Cup Series driver Chase Briscoe, fresh off his victory at Darlington Raceway in the opening round of the NASCAR Playoffs, for the announcement. Briscoe – who pilots the No. 19 Bass Pro Shops Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing – toured God’s Pit Crew’s facility, meeting with volunteers and witnessing firsthand the heart of the organization’s nationwide and global disaster relief efforts.
“It’s God – God doing amazing things here. I’ve heard about God’s Pit Crew especially during [Hurricane] Helene and to finally be here and see it in person; it is mind blowing,” shared Briscoe. “The amount of volunteers you have – it’s making me feel called to come do something here. I’m honored to be here.”
God’s Pit Crew has responded to more than 210 natural disasters since its founding in 1999. The ministry has built and gifted 114 homes and structures for families and communities in need and has distributed over 100 million pounds of critical relief supplies to survivors across the U.S. and beyond.
On behalf of the organization, President and Founder Randy Johnson will be recognized during pre-race ceremonies at the Bass Pro Shops Night Race on Saturday, September 13, at Bristol Motor Speedway.
President and General Manager of Bristol Motor Speedway, Jerry Caldwell, shared: “On behalf of everyone at Bristol Motor Speedway, it’s my honor to announce that God’s Pit Crew has been selected as a very deserving member of the BMS Neighborhood Hero honor. We can’t wait to officially honor them with this special recognition next Saturday night, September 13, prior to the green flag at America’s Night Race.”
God’s Pit Crew President and Founder, Randy Johnson, expressed gratitude for the recognition and the work of the many hands that make the ministry possible.
“It’s amazing to have incredible people in the branches of our ministry that serve others selflessly. This honor belongs to every volunteer, every donor, every team member who has said ‘yes’ to showing up when disaster strikes.”
God’s Pit Crew is deeply thankful for this recognition and remains committed to continuing its mission: delivering hope, healing, and restoration to communities impacted by disaster.
