GOD’S PIT CREW PROVIDES NEW HOMES FOR THREE NEIGHBORS IN BURNSVILLE, NC, FOLLOWING HURRICANE HELENE DEVASTATION

DANVILLE, VA. (June 5, 2025) – In the aftermath of the devastating flooding from Hurricane Helene, three neighboring families in Burnsville, North Carolina, who nearly lost everything, are beginning again – this time with brand-new, fully furnished homes, thanks to the compassion and dedication of God’s Pit Crew and its ministry partners.

With support from multiple partnering organizations, God’s Pit Crew has provided three complete homes to neighbors on the same street – each one a beacon of hope and restoration in a community that has endured so much.

Among those receiving new homes is Martha, who has lived in Burnsville since she was five years old. As the storm raged, she huddled in a closet with her daughter, praying for a miracle while the floodwaters washed away homes around them. Originally from Mexico, Martha has long served her community as an interpreter for the local school system and health department. Now, thanks to the generosity of donors and volunteers, her family has a place to call home again.

Gary and Carolyn, displaced for months after the storm, were overwhelmed with emotion upon receiving their new home. “I know there are still good people left in this world,” said Gary. “I’m just glad to be home – and without you all, I wouldn’t be home.” Carolyn added, “Nobody has ever done anything like this for us before.”

For Jeffrey, the flooding was nearly fatal. His home was torn from its foundation, and he was swept away with it. Neighbors watched Jeffrey disappear while fighting the water and feared the worst – but Jeffrey miraculously survived. Today, he is back on the same street, now reunited with his neighbors, all of them in new homes provided with love and compassion.

Each of these families has received not just a house, but a fresh start – complete with furnishings, bedding, laundry essentials, and a renewed sense of peace.

“These are more than homes – they’re lifelines,” said Randy Johnson, God’s Pit Crew President and Founder. “We are grateful to our incredible partners and donors who made this possible. Together, we are helping families find hope in the middle of heartbreak.”

God’s Pit Crew remains committed to providing more than 30 new homes this year to families impacted by Hurricane Helene and flooding across multiple states.
