GOD’S PIT CREW PROVIDES NEW HOME TO GEORGIA FAMILY DEVASTATED BY WILDFIRE
DANVILLE, VA. (July 10, 2026) – Only months after losing everything they owned in the devastating Georgia wildfires, the Lynn family recently stepped into a brand-new home provided completely at no cost through the generosity of God’s Pit Crew supporters and an incredible ministry partner.
For Brandon Lynn, the day of the wildfire is one he will never forget.
As a paramedic with Brantley County EMS, Lynn was on duty helping respond to the wildfires that were rapidly spreading through the area. During his shift, his boss radioed information about a wildfire that had impacted multiple structures. Concerned because the smoke was moving toward the forest beside his home, Brandon called his landlord.
“The fire was getting his home, the neighbors’, and was running right at ours,” Lynn shared.
The family had only moved into their home in February.
“We moved in in February, and everything was gone,” recounted Lynn. “The clothes on our backs is the only thing we walked away with. We’re grateful for our lives, but it’s hard to replace just having a house. Having a home.”
Fighting back tears, Lynn recalled the uncertainty that followed.
“I was terrified of what to do for my kids next,” he said. “I worked until 6:00 that night. Then I went to be with my wife and kids, just trying to move forward.”
Today, because of God’s faithfulness and the generosity of compassionate supporters, the Lynn family is moving forward in a very different place – a new home they can once again call their own in Nahunta, Georgia.
“This family experienced one of the most heartbreaking realities imaginable, losing everything in a matter of moments,” said God’s Pit Crew President Randy Johnson.
“Yet even in the middle of tragedy, we have the privilege of watching God bring hope and restoration. We are incredibly grateful for our faithful supporters and partners who made it possible to provide this family with a brand-new home.”
Since its beginning in 1999, God’s Pit Crew has completed nearly 150 building projects, including homes, schools, churches, and other community structures in areas devastated by disasters and hardships.
As additional homes are being prepared for more families displaced by disaster, God’s Pit Crew is inviting individuals, churches, businesses, and community groups to help furnish future homes by donating through the organization’s Amazon Needs List and Walmart Relief Registry located on the ministry’s website.
Items including bedding, bathroom necessities, kitchen utensils, cookware, small appliances, and other everyday essentials can be purchased directly from the digital lists and shipped to God’s Pit Crew headquarters, where they will be placed into homes before families arrive.
