Wildfire & Tornado Response – Ohio & Texas

By January 14, 2025No Comments

The Smokehouse Creek Fire was a record-breaking wildfire that ravaged the Texas Panhandle burning over 1 million acres of land.  God’s Pit Crew relief efforts were quickly dispatched to the Texas Panhandle to aid in the deadly wildfire outbreak that ultimately claimed several lives and many homes and farmland.

After numerous truckloads of critical items consisting of Blessing Buckets, bottled water, and Gatorade were sent to Amarillo, our Immediate Disaster Response Team deployed to the town of Fritch to begin assisting with onsite clean up.  Volunteers spent weeks clearing scenes of burnt trees, vehicles, buildings and homes.  Once the sites had been cleared of the rubble, community members were able to begin restoring normalcy back into their lives.

As the West faced wildfires, states throughout the Midwest were devastated with numerous tornadoes – one of which wreaked havoc in the communities of Lewistown, Ohio.  Again, God’s Pit Crew raced to action delivering loads of relief items into the affected areas.  Seeing that the need for help was great, an additional Immediate Disaster Response Team was formed and deployed to Ohio.  Volunteers spent multiple weeks cutting and removing damaged trees, tarping roofs, clearing debris, and praying with families that were working to overcome the chaos left behind by this terrible storm.

“It is such an awesome blessing to be able to have teams of selfless volunteers helping in multiple states at the same time,” shared Chris Chiles, Immediate Disaster Response Coordinator.
