GOD’S PIT CREW’S IMMEDIATE DISASTER RESPONSE TEAM DEPLOYING TO TEXAS TO HELP VICTIMS OF HURRICANE BERYL
DANVILLE, VA. (July 9, 2024) – God’s Pit Crew’s Immediate Disaster Response team will deploy Thursday, July 11, from headquarters in Danville, Virginia, and travel to Houston, Texas, and surrounding areas to help victims of torrential flooding and extensive wind damage left behind by Hurricane Beryl.
God’s Pit Crew semi-trucks and haulers equipped with dehumidifiers, generators, chainsaws, tarps and other equipment to assist with cleanup efforts will be on hand. These resources will be used to remove mud, wet carpet and furniture, and wet drywall from homes – as well as assist homeowners with damaged tree and debris removal.
The ministry has also sent a semi-load of relief supplies including Blessing Buckets, Play Pails, snack foods, and cleaning supplies to aid victims affected by the record-breaking storm. Blessing Buckets are five-gallon buckets containing non-perishable food, water, hygiene items, first-aid kits, Bibles, and handwritten notes of encouragement. Play Pails are three-gallon buckets that contain toys and activities, hygiene products, blankets, backpacks, and other essential items that are carefully chosen to help care for a child’s physical, emotional, and spiritual needs following devastation.
The God’s Pit Crew Immediate Disaster Response Team will travel to the affected area on Thursday, July 11. Assistance will begin on Friday, July 12, with plans for the crew to remain through Thursday, July 25. Individuals in need of assistance are asked to email [email protected] with their name, phone number, address, and a brief description of the scope of work that is needed. Volunteers will be working to muck out homes, assist with drying efforts and mold remediation, cut and remove damaged trees, and pray with families.
“This storm has continued on a long, destructive path for many days,” remarked God’s Pit Crew President Randy Johnson. “We continue to pray for all impacted, and our crews are ready to begin the work needed to help these people begin to get their lives back on track.”
Johnson explained that response by the God’s Pit Crew ministry would not be possible without the continuous support provided by volunteers and donors.
“Everyone who volunteers and donates to our relief efforts helps move our mission of providing hope and healing forward,” said Johnson. “The people we’re blessed to serve are experiencing what may be the darkest times of their lives, but it’s your generosity that gives them hope that they can keep going.”
